24 hours in Bandung

Last weekend me and my friends went to Bandung. There were four of us and we’ve known each other since we joined the same company back in 2011. Though now two of us don’t work there anymore (including myself!), we remain close friends and occasionally travel together. This trip was special because it’s the last trip before one of us left to Melbourne to study. So it’s like a farewell trip too :’).

We left Jakarta early Saturday morning. Though still sleepy, all of us were excited. Our first destination was to eat, of course. We ate Bakso for brunch and then followed with coffee and dessert in Two Cents Coffee. Afterwards we went for a little bit of shopping at Rumah Mode before went to our hotel, Mercure Bandung Setiabudi which I previously booked using Booking.com. Since I am a regular user of Booking.com, I am one of the “Genius Member” and was entitled free drinks during check in. To my surprise, the front desk officer informed me that we also got our room upgraded! Woohoow!

I don’t know if it’s because of my Genius Member status with Booking.com or if we were just lucky.. but whatever the reason was, upgrade always means good, right? 😉 So we got upgraded from a standard room to a room with balcony and free mini bar! The mini bar was not that fancy though, but still, freebies are always nice!

After checking in, we rested for a while and then went out for another shopping time.. hahaha.. Our destination was Twig House – a winter equipment shop, because my friend wanted to buy some stuffs for her move to Melbourne. As it was located in Jl.Sukajadi (close to Paris Van Java Mall), we expected that there were traffic. Lucky us, the road seemed to be in our favor that time! traffic was barely there so we could get around easily.

After shopping, we went for dinner at Bebek Ali Borromeus. Has anyone eaten here before? I used to go here all the time when I visited Bandung during my college days and I am surprised that it’s still taste as good! Yuuum!!! Then as we were on our way back to the hotel, we stopped by for some Taiwanese dessert nearby our hotel (I really forget the name as it was not too special hahaha). We basically just spent the night at our hotel room, watching Russel Peters and Aziz Ansari on Netflix through my laptop.

The next morning we left quite early because we aimed to arrive at Jakarta around noon. We still managed to have breakfast though. This time at Two Hands Full, another coffee shop in Jl.Sukajadi. I love the place, the coffee was good!

So that’s the story of our short trip to Bandung. Though short, the trip was special – it was laid back, full of laughter, and I think we were lucky that everything seemed to be in our favor. Upgraded room, good food, and easy traffic! What else could we ask for? 🙂
